Season 28 of Dancing With The Stars will soon come to an end. That means a new Mirror Ball Champion is going to be crowned. With only four couples left in the competition, the ballroom is really starting to heat up.
Season 28 brought with it an entirely new voting system. In years past, judges’ scores and fan votes were the deciding factors. Now, the results are based on the judges’ scores and live fan voting, which determines the bottom two any given week. Ultimately, the judges choose who to save from the bottom two, eliminating the remaining celebrity. Fans of the show already have their minds made up as to who they want to win this season of Dancing With The Stars, but we’re ranking all of the contestants this season from strongest to weakest based on average judges’ scores.
Ally Brooke
The former Fifth Harmony star may have had a rocky start to this season, but she has certainly proved herself as the strongest dancer in the competition. She and partner Sasha Farber have continuously improved each week, heading into the finals with an average score of 36.7. During the semi-finals, it came down to Brooke and Van Der Beek in the bottom two. After all three judges decided to save Brooke, she broke down crying and begged to give her place up in the finale.
Kel Mitchell
The writer and producer of the All That reboot was the first to score a 10 after his salsa in week 8. Mitchell continues to impress the judges week after week, pouring his heart out during a Contemporary dance that depicted the effects of gun violence in the semi-finals. Mitchell and his partner Witney Carson have made it to the finale with an average score of 35.2 throughout the competition.
Hannah Brown
The star of The Bachelorette danced her way into the finale after a rough week of training with judge Carrie Ann Inaba. Despite their awkward, Brown apologized for the way she had reacted to Inaba’s feedback, blaming it on a rough week. Her emotional Contemporary dance with partner Alan Bersten brought her average score to a 35.4 for the upcoming finale.
Lauren Alaina
Despite this country singer’s struggle to come out of her shell earlier in the season, Alaina has proven herself as a contender with an average score of 34.1. She and partner Gleb Savchenko scored a 27 on their redemption Paso Doble, on which they had previously scored a 19. Happy to have been given the opportunity to do the show, Alaina is glad they have made it to the finale.
Kate Flannery
The Office alum embraced every part of the Dancing With The Stars experience, celebrating the fact that she was a woman in her mid-50s tackling something she had never done before. On the night she danced an emotional Jive dedicated to her sister, Flannery and her partner Pasha Paskov were eliminated from the competition with an average score of 26.3.
James Van Der Beek
He never got a perfect score from the judges, but James Van Der Beek continued to demonstrate his desire to be on the dance floor week after week. With an average score of 25 throughout his time on the show, Van Der Beek suffered a personal tragedy and ultimate set back during the semi-finals, but he’s still one of the highest-scoring dancers on this season of Dancing With The Stars. Fans thought he was going to secure a place in the finals and even possibly take the win home, but he was eliminated after dancing a rocky redemption dance and a Foxtrot.
Karamo Brown
Despite only making it to week 7, the Queer Eye emotional guru’s average score was 25 throughout his time in the ballroom. Brown and his partner Jenna Johnson was eliminated after a high-scoring Paso doble on the show’s Halloween episode. After his elimination, Brown outwardly spoke about his limited experience on the show, saying it was unfair that he was eliminated over Sean Spicer.
Sean Spicer
The former political aide made it astoundingly far in this competition. Week after week, the judges were continuously surprised that he was still in the running for the Mirror Ball, especially with an average score of 24. Spicer and Lindsay Arnold worked hard week after week to improve his moves. The duo was eliminated in the ninth week of the competition.
Sailor Brinkley Cook
Sailor Brinkley Cook stepped into the competition after her mom, Christie Brinkley, suffered an injury during the first week of practice. Despite the drama surrounding her stepping in for her mom, Cook and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were superstars the first few weeks of competition. However, Cook was eliminated after her top-scoring jive, giving her an average score of 23.5 for the season.
Mary Wilson
Wilson was the first to be eliminated from this season of Dancing With The Stars, but her average score of 16 puts her in tenth place on our list. The 75-year-old member of The Supremes danced the Foxtrot and a Cha-Cha with her partner Brandon Armstrong during the first two weeks of competition.
Ray Lewis
Two-time Super Bowl champion Ray Lewis was the second contestant to leave during this season, but not because of an elimination. He withdrew himself from the competition after week 2 after a previous foot injury resurfaced, making it extremely difficult to dance. Lewis and his partner Cheryl Burke earned an average score of 15.
Lamar Odom
The weakest dancer on this season has been NBA star Lamar Odom. He consistently had the lowest scores, averaging 13.8 points. Despite being paired with Peta Murgatroyd, who is less than half of Odom’s height, the duo did their best to showcase Odom’s moves in the ballroom.
Dancing With The Stars’ finale airs Monday, November 25 at 8P.M. EST.
